CHILD favoritism.

Hello my lovelies, hope you all had a swell time yesterday? For those still suffering from valentine hangover, I say kpele. #clears throat. I had a lovely, splendid val day (at home). How did your day go? Did you receive the gift you always wanted? Go to that place you yearned for? Hang out with friends you love the most? If you didn't, today is here to do those, cos it necessary must not be on a Val's day, Love should be celebrated everyday.

Today, am writing on parenthood and child favoritism.
Growing up in our various homes, we have either been on one side of the stick or the other. Our parents had unknowingly shown favoritism towards one as against another. Often attimes, it happens subtly. From open rebuke and reprimanding one, while letting another go , both from the same crime. Some of us must have spent countless nights asking if truly our parents were really our parents; Love, affection, understanding, these were not given equally.

You as the less favored one had to work really hard to earn their love and appreciation while the other one had it on a platter of gold. Why? When sick or down with the flu or something, the remark would be "you better get well soon oooo" but the other kids were given the "you need to rest well dear, don't stress yourself at all" treatment. It beats me when i hear parents say " I prefer Peter to Paul because....". Why should you prefer one to another cos of an excuse?
Unknowingly to the parents, this can cause sibling rivalry. HATE then sets in amongst children, and the funny thing is that you as a parent begin to wonder why your children are always against each other. What else must have caused it except the seed you've planted. You made it so obvious in your preference, so that tore them apart.

As parents and to-be parents, our kids and children yet unborn need to be shown equal love. None is superior to the other (forget the age difference). Why drive a divide between them? I have seen and heard stories how such divided the siblings amongst themselves till adulthood. Please, incase you've started favoring one child more thah the other, STOP it. Don't think because they are little they may not take note of what is happening to them, they do. All of them came from the same womb, love and treat them as one, don't give them a reason to be envious of each other. Work against that rivalry or disaster in future.
Have a Blessed Sunday dearies.

  2. I would say from experience ,that parents favouring one kid/child to anoda is very destructive. I hated my siblings for the love they got I didn't. Anger n resentment occurs if not checked . Keep it up Pam.
